SCHOOLS PRODUCTIONS 2009
NIDA DEVISED 13-16 MAY (FOR DRAMA STUDENTS YRS 7-12)In 2008 NIDA Open Program produced a new schools production NIDA DEVISED. The response was overwhelmingly positive with teachers commenting: “It was a fantastic presentation of all of the possibilities of devised work”“Loved the different styles of the pieces. Wonderful clarity in use of roles and dramatic tension”Professional actors perform original devised pieces, including the highlights from our inaugural season in 2008, and brand new devised segments.
SHAKESPEARE: STAGE & SCREEN 19-21 AUGUST
(FOR ENGLISH & DRAMA STUDENTS YRS 7-12)Shakespeare : Stage and Screen allows students to access Shakespeare in an exciting new format. Professional actors will perform scenes from Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet and Hamlet live on stage and in original film versions of scenes. Students will explore how meaning is made using conventions of film & live performance. This ground breaking show will tour to Beijing for the International GATS Festival.Tickets $20 for students, 1 teacher complimentary with 25 students. Contact NIDA Open Program for a booking form.
STUDENT PRODUCTIONS 2009
A DAY IN DECEMBERNEW VERBATIM THEATRE PLAY: A great chance for teachers and students to see a compelling new piece of topical verbatim theatre presented as part of NIDA’s 50th Celebrations. On 2 December 1999 a commuter train crashed into the back of the almost stationary Indian Pacific at Glenbrook. 7.5 metres of train was reduced to 50 centimetres on impact. This verbatim play by Linden Wilkinson takes edited stories told by the people involved and interweaves these stories with evidence from the Public Inquiry. THIRD YEAR COMEDY SEASON NIDA 3rd Year Students present a hilarious season of classic comedies.THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST | by Oscar Wilde | directed by Kevin Jackson Experience the world’s most perfect satire still as relevant today as it was in 1895. NEW HSC DRAMA TOPICS FOR 2010-2012
Teachers will explore the HSC drama topics through a combination seminar discussion and practical performance with expert directors and teachers in the following topics (each session costs $65).
