Devising Theatre Workshops with Theatre of Complicite

One Day Workshops
  Dates:    
Tuesday 25 October OR Wednesday 26 October 2016
  Time:    9am-12.00pm & 1pm-4pm (including 1 hour lunch break)
  Where: The Arts Unit - Cnr Toothill St & The Boluevarde, Lewisham
  Costs:    $280 for DoE/Drama NSW Members OR $310 for Non-Govt or Non-Drama NSW Members (GST included)
  Bookings: The Booking Form is due Monday 10 October 2016

  • In the one day intensives you will learn how to use the neutral mask to create Lecoq’s fundamental neutrality and the basis of movement.
  • The workshop then continues with the elements, mime, movement analysis, chorus work, use of dramatic elements such as space, rhythm, timing, and role in devising theatre.
  • The workshop concludes with short devised collaborative scene work in the style of Complicite.

Two Day Intensive Workshops
  Dates:
    Friday 28 & Saturday 29 October 2016
  Time:    9am-12.00pm & 1pm-4pm (including 1 hour lunch break) both days
  Where: The Arts Unit - Cnr Toothill St & The Boluevarde, Lewisham
  Costs:    $550 for DoE/Drama NSW Members OR $600 for Non-Govt or Non-Drama NSW Members (GST included)
  Bookings: The Booking Form is due Monday 10 October 2016

  • In this two day intensive will cover all the elements from the one day courses such as neutral mask, elements, movement, mime, chorus, space, rhythm, timing and role and then extend this through the use of dramatic forms such as Greek theatre, Melodrama and Commedia dell’arte.
  • The workshop concludes with short devised collaborative scene work in the style of Complicite.

Presenter Eric Mallett
Eric trained at Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris. His work for Complicite includes Lionboy, The Street of Crocodiles, Mnemonic, The Visit, The Phantom Violin and The Lamentations of Thel
Other theatre work includes playing Zazu in Disney's The Lion King (directed by Julie Taymor), RSC's The Comedy of Errors (directed by Tim Supple), playing Pinocchio in The Adventures of Pinocchio (Lyric Hammersmith), The Jungle Book (Young Vic), The Miser (directed by Mike Alfreds), The Taming of the Shrew (Crucible Theatre, Sheffield) and Gebb (Rainmaker Picture Story Theatre).
Eric was also Movement Director for RSC's production of Spring Awakening
His TV work includes a leading role in Angels (Granada TV, director Philip Saville), A Touch of FrostBrum and Peter and the Wolf (BBC/Spitting Image). His film work includes Paulette.
